The project contemplated consists of approximately 2,100 feet of three-barrel siphon sewer constructed in a single bedrock tunnel containing two 78-inch diameter conduits and one 60-inch diameter conduit; approximately 2,400 feet of four-barrel siphon sewer constructed in a single bedrock tunnel containing one 42-inch diameter conduit, one 48-inch diameter conduit, one 60-inch diameter conduit and one 96-inch diameter conduit; 2 siphon drop shafts with depths of 250 to 300 feet; 1 flow splitting structure; 1 valve chamber; modifications to two existing siphon valve chambers; approximately 500 feet of 60-inch diameter and 78-inch diameter connecting piping in a stacked configuration, one structure that connects a flow splitting structure to an existing 60-inch diameter MIS; one riser shaft approximately 300 feet deep; two flow control chambers at the Jones Island Wastewater Treatment Plant (JIWWTP); approximately 125 feet of 96-inch diameter pipe connecting to an existing 72-inch diameter influent pipe at the JIWWTP; and approximately 185 feet of 90-inch diameter pipe connecting to an existing 90-inch diameter influent pipe at the JIWWTP. The project contemplated also includes approximately 520 feet of cellular cofferdam dock wall at the JIWWTP. All structures will be of cast-in-place construction and several structures and pipe runs will be on pile foundations. The project will be located in the downtown portion of the City of Milwaukee and all shafts and tunnels will have strict groundwater control requirements. There will be a Prebid Conference at 1:00 p.m., 2nd day of February 2006 at MMSD Headquarters, 260 West Seeboth Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. |
