| Project Description: |
The Contractor will be responsible for providing all necessary equipment, and materials to perform mechanical dredging of 110,000 cubic yards from several areas within the Calumet Harbor. Dredge depth is -28.0 LWD with 1.0 of allowable dredging. The material will be transported to the Confined Disposal Facility (CDF) located adjacent to the mouth of the river and then placed into the CDF. The CDF is filling up and there is only a portion of the East containment dike available for disposal operations. One week prior to commencing dredging, during the dredging and for one week after completion of the project there is required water quality monitoring that needs to be completed by a qualified person. The contractor is also required to provide a pump that will pump water from the CDF settling basin to the onsite filter cells dur ing disposal operations. Water must be pumped at a rate equal to or greater than the amount of material being placed within the CDF on a continuous basis. |
