Project Description: The goal of the project is to apply fire suppressant materials into a burning abandoned coal mine via cased boreholes. Boreholes will be drilled into the mine, and a number of smaller diameter drill holes will also be completed. Equipment required for this project includes, but is not limited to, a track mounted drill rig, capable of supporting air and air/mist drilling operations; water truck(s) and water storage facilities, fan and power generation equipment, an air compressor and equipment necessary for foam and water injection operations. Placement of casing, grout materials and down hole monitoring devices will be accomplished.
