Which way is better?
Hi everybody!

I'm having a dispute with my boss.

1. He just pulls off the slab for his exteriors.

Myself I like to square everything. I check to see if the slab is out

2.he lets his rim board run wild on the corners and cuts it off after.

I like to go off the dimensions on the print cut them to size. this way you can find if there is any mistakes on the slab(I think it is a good way to double check yourself)

3.he cuts his windows out after standing the walls and tykes after standing the walls

This is absolutely absurd! I just spent 4 hours cutting out windows from the outside of the house! When it could have been done in 10 minutes while framing the walls. I also like to put tyke on while framing walls
he said the tyke blows off if you put it on first. But I've never had a problem when it was properly fastened! I make sure I fasten all my seems and edges really well.

I'm I wrong?

I think he is making it harder on all of us because he is stubborn.

I could be wrong because I was a metal framer in Fl. for 10 years
now I'm in wood framing for 2 years. So please correct me if I’m wrong. Please give me your opinion on this matter.

Re: Which way is better?
He sounds like a 'take the money and run' cheapo rip-off artist to me. He doesn't want to catch any mistakes in the slab, so he won't have to fix it, or wait for the concrete crew to fix it, whichever. As for the windows and tyke, your way is easier, but personally, I'd do the tyke once the walls are up- just so there are as few seams as possible.
Regardless, you can't teach old dog new tricks, and I doubt if you'll be able to change his mind about any of this. I wish I had a buck for every old bugger I've come across who insists that grandpa’s methods are the only way to do things. Period... Someone should drag them, kicking and screaming, into the 21st century...
