Want to make more money.
|
here's a challenging question.
EVERYBODY WANTS TO MAKE MORE MONEY, RIGHT?!?! Right.
Okay, so obviously you can't pay a higher hourly rate and be done with it. If you do that across the board its tough to be profitable, especially when your field crew isn't exactly efficient (hanging/finishing drywall room-by-room instead of step by step).
I'm looking for a way to a)increase profits by promoting efficient work on jobs and b)institute a bonus program to reward this work.
How can this be set up??

Robby,Terry is right.
If you would like food for thought, a mason named Damian Lang has a system called R.A.C.E. that is for a masonry company but could be adapted to most any type of production oriented trade.

Well my little bit of construction experience tells me that maybe, just maybe you can implement a more efficient system of production. For example:
1. purchase all necessary materials for the whole job at once. (Use your line of credit).
2. Distribute the material to each area of use at once. (Use your guy to put the material they will use in each room)
3. Install your sheet rock, room by room, quickly. (User your crew to move in and move out of the room)
4. Have your quality control person go in before and after installation to "touch" up or fix any outstanding features.
5. Have your clean up crew, clean up after the production crew..that way they do not get in the way of production.
Of course there is the incentive..more sheet rock up...more money to you!! Pay your base pay $/hourly rate and anything over the "standard" production means money to the crew!
Of course when you say that everyone wants more money...you have to include yourself. The faster the job gets done, the less man hours you have to pay out...the more money you get to keep. Let me know if it works.
