Use 4" smooth alum. Pipe and elbows.

you want a smooth surface because of the lint that flows with the exhaust air.

The white stuff is not code

the moisture in the exhaust will attack the galvanized causing lint to stick, creating a fire hazard.

Male end points to wall termination, Female to dryer. Connect one 4" elbow at the dryer so it points up. Connect pipe to elbow. Run the pipe on the OUTSIDE of the drywall so it can be cleaned or replaced. When you push the dryer in place you will have about 5 to 6" clearance for the pipe and the flex gas line. If you ever have to pull the dryer, just take the vent apart at one joint and pull the whole thing out.
