Unusual Basement wall
I'm looking to build a timber home with SIP's for a client. Because of height code restrictions, I don't want to place the first floor deck on the foundation wall (as is typical). One option is to design a ledge on the inside of the basement wall to hold the joists. I also ran across a product called Joist Pocket Liner. This allows you to have a pocket formed during the pouring stage.

I wouldn't want a main beam to be hanging by a hanger, even it was to code.

1. dig the basement deeper so the height of the 1st floor is still where you need it.
or
2. Remove a block from the wall and put the beam in that lowered notch.
