To knee wall or not to knee wall?
Ok, I can order 17' steel studs, but the project is under too tight of a schedule to allow for the week to deliver. I can get 12' studs and build a 5' wall on top of that. But here's the problem, it's a fire wall and I don't know how picky the inspector will be. 5/8" on each side seems to me like it'll be fine, but I'd like to hear someone say they did the same thing. Plus, it's 16gauge steel. I think it'd take a truck to go through the wall. Do we go ahead with the 12' studs and try our luck with the inspector, or do we have no option but to find 17' studs in two days?
