Spacing and supporting sub floor panels
Hello everyone,

couple of basic questions. I’m laying down 3/4" t&g osb subfloor. i'm leaving a gap of about 1/8" between the ends of the panels. For the edges, do I fit the tongue and groove tightly together, or leave a 1/8" gap there as well?

Also, I haven't been able to exactly line up the edges of each panel so they meet in the middle of the 1.5" wide joists. Out of curiosity, what's the minimum support for joist edges that folks out there would feel comfortable with? 3/8"? 1/4"?

Re: Spacing and supporting sub floor panels
Are you placing the panels in the correct orientation? The t&g edges should be perpendicular to the way the joists run. If your panels are spaced for sizing (some are, some are not), you will have flexibility to adjust your spacing and get at least 1/2" on the joist. I also admit that I'm now recognizing yet _another_ advantage to using I-joists. Typically, they are 1 3/4" wide, giving you more nailing/screwing area.

You need to read the manufacturer's installation instructions for gapping instructions. It should be obvious, though.
