please allow myself to introduce my......self
I work for a large commercial general contractor. Multi-stories, hospitals, stadiums, malls...the big multi-million dollar stuff. Well, big friggin deal! It takes good people like yourselves. From what I've seen thus far, this fine site leans toward residential and I'm not sure if my input would be of any value, but I'll try.
The reason I found you all is because I am frustrated by what I see in the commercial market with respects to subcontractor relations and safety. While discussing creating a commercial sub-contractor association with a friend, I did a little Googling. So here I is!
Trade associations seem bloated, political and expensive. So I want to start my own forums for subcontractors of gc's. If this venture steps on your toes, I'll direct my energies here. If not, and if so, I would be very appreciative of your support either way.
Good stuff here! Hope you can tolerate a Noob.

Welcome!
Knowledge is power, and we would be closed minded if we thought your input would not be able to help us in anyway.
There is alot of advice that fits in both residentian and commercial applications.
I hope you enjoy!

Welcome, i think you will find the contractors posting on this site to span the full width of the construction industry. I find it makes this site more interesting than some of the other construction boards out there. Good to get perspectives from others not in your same line of work. I too have considered joining a trade asso. but was put off by the costs involved. I figure most of the fees go to political lobbying.Other than coffee and stamps i don,t see what expenses a local builders asso. has.

Thanks doods, and I may test your tolerance.I'm a bit excitable. But that comes from a passion that feeds my family.I am totally frustrated by the mentality of GC's who consistently fail to understand the importance and inexpendability of our subs. I have the highest regard for these specialists. GC project management and superintendents don't understand that these trade specialists see the same dumb crap every day and know what they are talking about. And we don't listen.
I have been driven to this site by chasing leaks and working punchlists for the past year. It's one of those jobs I consider failing at. That is, I don't want to be good at this, instead, I'd rather that the butthole who built the job be good at it! eh....I better save some of this. Thanks again.

Welcome GCMan, My father did some commercial work but liked homes more. I only do homes. My bro-in-law specializes in hospitals.
There are people in all fields here, enjoy and jump in whenever it feels froggy.
When your only problem is a nail, every tool looks like a hammer.
Welcome to my site . Just so you know, this website is for all types of contractors and not just residential.
