Any advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated...
I really want to pursue a career in the construction industry, for numerous reasons, but here's my issue: I'm 27 years old, I have a Bachelors Degree in Public Affairs/Legal Studies from Indiana University, 3+ years of professional sales and marketing experience in the sports industry and motorsports industry, but I have absolutely ZERO experience in the construction industry. I love working with my hands, and consider myself mechanically savvy, and after working desk jobs for 3+ years I've decided to take on a new career in construction.
Here are a few of my goals, etc:
1. Learn and develop construction building trades.
2. Find a job with a company that specializes in commercial building, home building, and/or home remodeling, where I can utilize and develop my new skills while working on the site projects.
3. Acquire a Bachelors or Associates degree in Construction Management.
4. Work as a construction manager for a growing company.
5. And ultimately, down the road, I want to start a home construction/remodeling company. Or invest in flipping houses.
I figure this is the best time to start with training while the economy heals.
With that being said, if anyone has advice on where I should start and the steps I should take in order to reach these goals. Again, any help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris |
