Metal Roof
We have a few? About the re roofing that will be done. Scheduled for next Thursday weather permitting...
We have by the looks of it 3 layers of shingles so this 30 year old house has been re roofed 2Xsince it was build. We are going with a steel roof.
What is your take on going over top of this with the steel roof?
And no tear up of the old shingles...

Re: Metal Roof
Building codes in most municipalities limit roofs to 3 layers, so your local permitting agency will probably not approve it. There are good reasons for tearing off: with 3 layers the age of the roof is such that there is a fair chance of wood rot that should be repaired before installing a new roof.
