Floor Drains in basement – Code
I am adding a 23x32 addition to my house which will be 2 foot lower than my existing basement. My existing basement is where my laundry tub will be and where I will put in a floor drain. Do I also need a floor drain in the addition basment. I was thinking code might say that I need a floor drain there because its lower than the existing basement????

Re: Floor Drains in basement – Code
The only reason you would need a floor drain in the bastment is if you have equpment that needs to discharge water or if there is local code that requires you to have one.
