Concrete Block Stem Wall questions
I am would like to build a 2 to 4 foot tall concrete block retaining wall. I plan on making 12 inch deep by 24 inch wide footers (rebar reinforced) and then paying some masons to lay the block.

My questions:

What is the typical spacing for vertical rebar that will go from inside the footer to the top of the wall (every 16 inches/ every 32 inches, etc.)? This rebar will be placed when I pour the footers.

I plan on filling the block cavities with concrete grout after the wall is built. Can I order a special concrete mix for this pour? If so, what do I need?

I plan on having the brick mason use the metal grid stuff between the rows of bricks. Will this cause a problem when I fill the block cavities with concrete grout?

This wall will be 44 feet long, I was thinking of putting a few (concrete block) deadmen in the wall, toward the back fill side. Does this make sense?

Thanks

Re: Concrete Block Stem Wall questions
Rebar size and spacing is typically calculated by structural engineers, but if I was building this wall I would use # 5 rebar @ 32" o/c spacing. The rebar should extend from the footing and engaging the rebar in the bond beam course at the top of the wall. Bond beam should have 2 #5 continous horizontal rebar.
Order 3000# block fill grout. 1 yard will fill approximately 200 8" block cells

Metal grid is called horizontal joint reinforcing (Durowall)
