Camera phones
|
I have finally worked my way up to a decent digital camera to take before and after pictures of all my jobs. I even know how to post these pictures:clap: Just curious though, what are camera cell phones like if you happen to forget your digital one day?
I don't have one, but every picture I have seen taken by one sucks big time in quality.

Ditto what Jim said. The cam phone pics are almost always poor quality. They do work well to refresh the memory on little things though. |

I just used my camera phone today to take a pic of a door knob that I need to match. It's nice to have for things like that. |

I could see one coming in real handy for taking a picture of some issues that come up on a job that were unforseen and the homeowner isn't there to see them. I usually just call them, let them know and give them the damage over the phone, but having a picture as back up for later might be a nice thing. |

They are a good backup for the digicam when the batteries die or it is left home. I have a good digicam on the truck at all times along with a whole pack of batteries.
I also have a Razr V3 phone, it has a 1.3mp camera, which should be good enough for jobsite work. The problem is the lens. The tiny fixed focus lens is not very good. It will take about as good a picture as a cheap fixed focus digicam.
Another thing is getting the pic off the phone. If you do not have e-mail on your phone it is hard to get it off and onto your PC. I have this issue with my old V400. I have a pic I really want to get out of the phone and cannot find any way to do it.
I got the Moto software for the V3 for Moto's website. It was about $30 and can swap files such as pics, songs, ringtones, video, etc. It also has a ringtone mixer. You can take any sone or sound file and shorten/mix it to make you own ringtones. I know kids who spend $2-$3 for them and think they are NUTS.
Now if I take a pic with my phone in a pinch I can just plug the phone into the laptop and get the pic on my PC.
I also have a photo printer with Bluetooth so if I want I can just Blutooth the pic to the little printer directly. |
